PANEL DISCUSSION - ENERGY OPTIONS FOR UKRAINE:

WHAT:
The Washington Group, in conjunction with the U.S.-Ukraine Foundation, the U.S. Ukraine Business Council, and the Ukrainian American Environmental Association, is hosting a panel of speakers who will discuss options for Ukraine to become energy independent, including energy efficiency, renewable energy, fossil fuels, and nuclear power. The purpose of the discussion is to explore sustainable energy options for Ukraine and raise public awareness on the energy issues facing Ukraine today.
The discussion will be divided into the following major areas:
1. Fossil Fuels (Oil, Gas, and Coal) - Ed Chow, Center for Strategic and International Studies - Senior Fellow.
2. Nuclear Energy (Pro) - Dr. Kris Singh, President, Holtec International.
3. Nuclear Energy (Con) - Michael Mariotte, Executive Director - Nuclear Information and Resource Service.
4. Energy Efficiency - Brian Castelli, Chief Operating Officer - Alliance to Save Energy.
5. Renewable Energy (Solar, Wind, Geothermal, Biomass/Biofuels, Water Power) - Ken Bossong, Co-Director - Ukrainian-American Environmental Association.
A question and answer session as well as a reception will follow.
